The Surrounding Area

The area surrounding Kuthumba offers a splendid variety of natural beauty, from the peaks of the Tsitsikamma mountain range to the pristine beaches of Plettenberg Bay, from the river mouths and waterfalls at Storms River to the seal colonies of the Robberg Peninsula.

A great many activities are available to those who wish to lose themselves in the natural splendour. The mountains and forests offer day walks, mountain-biking and hiking trails. And sea-kayaking, surfing, whale-watching and snorkelling are just some of the activities to be enjoyed in the warm Indian Ocean.

For the more adventurous: the highest bungy jump in the world is a few kilometres from Kuthumba, at Bloukrans. Abseiling, bridge swinging and blackwater tubing are all on offer in the near vicinity.

Monkeyland offers sanctuary and rehabilitation to primates the world over who have lost their homes; it’s well worth a visit.
The rich flora of the fynbos and indigenous forest are a delight, and the rich diversity of avian life ensures that the Garden Route is a top destination for bird-watchers. In short, Kuthumba and its surrounds is an astonishing area for those who cannot get enough of Mother Earth’s natural beauty.
